A Little Pick-Me-Up

This is my first attempt at a "tilt-shift" effect where you try to make an ordinary photo look like it's a photo of a model or miniature. The shallow depth-of-field tricks the eye into thinking that you are actually looking at something very small. Let me know if you're buying it! You may want to click this one for a larger view.

i like to look at tilt shift images (and would like to try doing some myself), but i wonder if they might become a bit gimmicky? some are great....this one included of course! how'd you do it?

Dooooooode, since when did you put a train set with scenery in your basement? You're not even retired! And you're so obsessed with it that you're even taking photos of it! You can't fool me!

Joel,
It's amazing that it really does trick the mind, even when you tell us ahead of time that we're being tricked.

Yeah, I'm buying it.

It works really well. I'll have to try it in some wedding photography.

Also, just to let you know that as part of BlogDay 2007 tomorrow (www.blogday.org) I am featuring this blog as one of my five choice in an article on www.ovimagazine.com.

Hey thanks for your comment on my blog, it's nice to know someone is actually looking at it. I feel like I'm talking to empty space usually.

I totally bought this pic, it looks like a tiny toy car on a lily pad actually, with the dark bit as a patch of water. Maybe that's just me though..

Does it do the job? yep.

Kinda looks like it was (or could be) done via software. Is this true? (Gaussin blur)
